Juggling work and family is hard enough without the need to find time to training for an event like Cigna Round the Bays!  Time for yourself is important, and getting out for a walk or run will be good for your mind, body and help improve your general fitness with the end goal in sight.

We’ve got some tips to help you fit in training to your busy lives:

  • Discuss your training needs with your partner, or someone that might be able to help mind the kids.
  • Look at your week ahead and identify times when you can train and note them on your calendar, or as reminders your phone.
  • See if your friends are interested in joining you for any of your sessions – working out together is great for motivation!
  • Get up a little earlier and get your session done in the morning before the day starts.
  • Make time in your lunch break a few times a week – even if it is only 20 minutes.
  • Take the kids to the local school playground and run/walk around the perimeter – where you can keep them in sight.
  • Your kids are great company!  Why not adapt your distance and pace so they can join you?
  • Be positive and open minded about the opportunities to train , and don’t be afraid to ask for help.
  • Don’t be hard on yourself!  If you miss a session, just get back on schedule the next day.  If you can’t do the time on the schedule, just do what you can.

The most important thing is to have fun!  Enjoy Wellington and it’s surrounds, and get moving towards your goal at Cigna Round the Bays!
