Health and wellbeing isn’t just about how you look on the outside.  The girls at Body Love NZ share their positive messages and experience helping to guide people to love themselves by using fitness, healthy eating, and balance in an everyday lifestyle.  They are fantastic role models not just for young women but the community as a whole. We love that they’ve joined our team of ambassadors for #STEPITUPNZ and will be leading the way for their Body Love girls at the 10km run at Cigna Round the Bays.

Body Love Blueprint

– Courtney & Abbey

WHAT IS YOUR HISTORY OF RUNNING?

Courtney: Did running in school more for the social side of things now I run for fun! Have done about 8 half marathons in my life and one half iron man. Such an epic thing to tick off the bucket list!

Abbey: I use to do triathlons when I was in high school, I haven’t routinely ran long distance for some time now. Up to 5km would be my usual these days, that gets me to to and from crossfit or work.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT RUNNING YOU ENJOY?

Courtney: I actually was thinking about it this morning on my run and I think my favorite thing about it would be how empowered it makes me feel!! What a rush!!

Abbey: To be honest, it’s been a bit of a push to get me back into running with intention! But it’s awesome to see what your body can adapt to so quickly! I much prefer to run with friends, I’m definitely a social exerciser.

HOW DO YOU BALANCE DAY TO DAY LIFE / FAMILY WITH YOUR RUNNING?

Courtney: I would say the balance between running a business and well being is what’s tough. And the way I do is to remind me that exercise and nourishment is an investment into my business, my relationships. If I’m moving I have more energy, I’m happier and I’m healthier. So I make it a priority!!

Abbey: My health and well being is simply a priority for me, if I don’t look after myself then I can’t look after anyone else. Fortunately for my fitness I don’t have children, so I find it relatively easy to fit in my training time, but it’s made a lot easier because I genuinely love it! Crossfit, swimming, sometimes yoga to calm the restless mind, the buzz is addictive.  I do need to actively remind myself to mentally check out from time to time though. Running a business, working nearly full time, and looking after myself isn’t exactly a walk in the park so it’s important for me to forgive myself for not always sticking to what my “Happy Planner” tells me.

WHAT DOES A USUAL TRAINING WEEK LOOK LIKE?

Courtney: I love a bit of everything so week by week I will do mainly crossfit with running, yoga, and some sort of outdoorsy adventure on the side. I will have two rest days a week. Depending on energy levels I might do more or less, it’s always important to listen to your body and not berate yourself for missing a session. We’re human, it happens!

Abbey: Ooooh this is very fluid depending on what’s happening that week or where I’m working from, but three crossfit classes a week would be a bad week for me, five classes and a swim or yoga class would be a better week, this is my happy souls goal.

GOALS FOR FUTURE RUNNING?

Courtney: Gonna smash out the 10km round the bays with Abs and the Body Love girls then I’m definitely planning on doing another half marathon sometime soon!

Abbey: Run the 10km of the round the bay’s with ease, just getting out there and doing it with Court and our girls will be so awesome! What an achievement for everyone involved.

PLANNED EVENTS FOR 2017?

Courtney: Holy moly. Just trying to get over the amazing events in 2016!! Bootcamps, retreats, workshops, community growth, travel, fun, learning, public speaking, laughter.. the works!! It’s going to be a huge but very magical year, I can just feel it!

Abbey: I have a pairs crossfit comp coming up at the end of January called “judgment day” my partner for this is so much fun and this will be our first competition out of Wellington, we are very excited and are just hoping for some new PB’s.  Plus lots of fun and exciting new events on the Body Love NZ calendar! Retreats, workshops, boot camps, new programmes! Ooooooo we can barely wait!!
